Gaylene M. Weber, 56, died unexpectedly in her home on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 after a recent progression of serious health issues.
She was born in Shelby on January 2, 1969 to the late Barb (Kohls) Winely. Gaylene grew up in Galion where she went to school at St. Joseph and graduated in 1988 from Galion High and Pioneer where she studied child development. She adored children and worked in childcare and at Dean & Dave’s Discount before joining the team at Bucyrus Kroger where her warm smile and genuine kindness was appreciated by customers and coworkers. Mutual friends introduced her to Perry Weber to whom she was married on September 14, 2001.
Gaylene will be remembered for her cheerful and positive attitude toward everyone. She loved her mother and was an excellent caregiver to her until her death in 2022. Gaylene and Perry enjoyed going out to eat and day trips to Lake Erie or wherever their car took them. Gaylene’s customers were always met by a smiling face who remembered them and their children when visiting the store. At home, she collected dolls, watched game shows, kept up with the news, and enjoyed the company of many pets over the years.
Gaylene is survived by her husband, Perry; brother, Bryan (Wendy) Winely; nieces and nephew, Jenna (Matt) O’Bryan, Kayla (Justin) Maynard, and Michael Lovely; brother-in-law, Terry Weber; half-sister, Gina Bowman; aunts and uncles, Louise Eitzen, Anne DeNero, Robert (Betty) Kohls, and Tom (Pam) Kohls; along with her loved cousins and extended family.
In addition to her dear mother, Gaylene was preceded in death by brother, Chuckie Winely and aunts and uncles, Mary Yetzer, Dorothy Beach, William “Bill” Kohls, Rita Reed, Francis “Pete” Kohls, Betty Studer, and Lawrence Kohls.
Friends can pay respect and say their goodbyes on Wednesday, May 21 from 4-7 pm at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus.
Those wishing to make a memorial donation are asked to make them payable to Susan G. Komen and give at the funeral home. Memories and photos can be shared on the guestbook of Gaylene’s tribute page at www.wisefuneral.com.
