Gary E. Miller

Gary Eugene Miller, 65, of Bucyrus, passed peacefully early Friday, August 13, 2021 at his home following an extended illness.

Gary was born on June 19, 1956 in Bucyrus to Terry E. “Ted” and Maxine J. (Hancock) Miller who reside in rural Bucyrus. He was a 1974 graduate of Col. Crawford High School where he was an accomplished baseball player. Gary went onto receive his Associates degree in HVAC from Terra Tech in 1976 and the following year, he married Patricia J. Keller, whom he’d been friends with since high school.

Gary was a lifelong diabetic, yet he always maintained such a strong work ethic. In his younger years, he enjoyed helping at his uncle’s furniture store and after Terra Tech, he worked as a salesperson for Erie Supply in Bucyrus from 1977 to 2000. He then took a position at BPT and worked there until a stroke forced him to retire in 2005.

Gary was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and The Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed watching his children participate in sports and took even greater pleasure in coaching their baseball teams when they were younger. He loved the years spent playing slow-pitch softball for Miller’s Furniture and he and Patti shared many memories over the years. Gary became quite skilled at Pac-Man when Atari came out and he loved anything Sci-fi. For relaxation, he was often found watching The X-Files or Supernatural and a highlight of his would have been to come in contact with an extra-terrestrial.

In addition to his mom, dad and wife, Patti, Gary is survived by children, Tiffany Miller of Crestline, Terence (Lisa) Miller and Tayler Miller both of Bucyrus; grandchildren, Jaxson France, Channing Sewell and Gracie Miller; brother, Timothy Miller; mother-in-law, Joy Keller; sister-in-law, Kathy Yaussy; brother-in-law, Fred (Jodi) Keller as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Gary was preceded in death by his grandparents, Daniel and Irene Miller and Arthur and Pauline Hancock; his father-in-law, Richard Keller and a brother-in-law, David Yaussy.

His family will receive friends from 10 – 11:55 am Tuesday, August 17 at Wise Funeral Service, where his funeral will begin that day at 12:00 pm with Deacon Jerry Gubernath officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.

Gary’s family is forever grateful to the organ donor transplant family who helped better his quality of life. His family would be humbled if in lieu of flowers, gifts were made payable to Lifeline of Ohio. These gifts will be accepted through the funeral home and memories are encouraged to be shared on his tribute wall.
