Gary A. Schifer

Gary A. Schifer, 68, of Sycamore passed away Thursday, Dec. 7, 2017, from a short illness.



Gary was born Jan. 17, 1949, at Bucyrus Hospital to Paul L. and Janet M. (Winch) Schifer, who preceded him in death.



He is survived by one sister, Linda K. (Wayne) Spiegel of Ostrander; three brothers, Ronald D. Schifer, Dennis L. Schifer and Curtis P. (Connie) Schifer, all of rural Sycamore; nieces and nephews, Tim (Charma) Schifer, Michelle Sebring and Maggie Schifer, all of Sycamore, Janelle Kunkle and Phillip (Cassie) Spiegel, of Deleware, and Stephanie (Ross) DeArmond of Marysville; and seven great-nieces and four great-nephews.



Gary was a 1968 graduate of Wynford High School, where he was a member of FFA. Gary was a farmer and co-owned Lone Oak Farm with his mother, father and brothers, Ronald and Dennis. He drove truck for many years, and over the years he worked for Ziegler Milling and Bucyrus Road Materials. He owned his own trucking company, G.A. Schifer Trucking, and co-owned SNS Construction and The Oak’s Café with his family. He liked trains, going to farm auctions, dogs and spending time with his nieces and nephews.



Calling hours will be held on Sunday, Dec. 10 from 4-7 pm at Wise Funeral Service where his funeral will be on Monday at 11:00 am with Gene Luidhardt, SAM officiating. Burial will follow in Brokensword Cemetery.



Memorial donations may be made payable to Good Hope Lutheran Church and given through the funeral home.
