Florence E. Haefer, nee Lindenmeyer, died Friday, February 19, 2016 in Fort Collins, Colorado at age 99.



She was born June 27, 1916 in Monroe County, Ohio to Richard A. and Pauline B. (nee Dätwyler) Lindenmeyer, both deceased. In November, 1918 the family moved to Bucyrus and she joined St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where she was an active member as long as she was able, teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir, directing children’s and youth choirs, and a charter member of the Friendship Sunday School Class and women’s Cotta group. She helped with many dinners and receptions and especially enjoyed the rummage sales.



In 1933, she graduated from Holmes Liberty High School and on July 18, 1936 she married classmate Wilbert G. Haefer. He pre-deceased her on July 18, 1954. Besides her parents and husband, her brother Dr. Paul H. Lindenmeyer and sister-in-law Carol, a nephew Thomas Lindenmeyer, daughter-in-law Pamela Haefer and grandson Randolph Haefer pre-deceased her.



Florence leaves behind three children: Ronald and wife Marlo of Bucyrus; Linda Sue Siebert of Fort Collins, and J. Richard Haefer and wife Vianney Perdomo of Paradise Valley, Ariz.; 13 grandchildren: Lee (Teri) Haefer, Kimberley (Scott) Kent, of Bucyrus, Loren (Valerie) Siebert and Julie (John) Scott of Colorado, Gary (Amber) Siebert of Michigan, and Erin (Joel) Ring, Gemma (Jorge) Garcia, Olivia Haefer, Isaac (Dee) Haefer, Seth Haefer and Regina Haefer of Arizona, Nicholas Haefer in Illinois, and Titus Haefer in Florida; 21 great grandchildren; 5 step great grandsons; one step great-great grandson; and two nephews. As matriarch of more than 30 cousins, only four now survive.



She was a homemaker who boarded and roomed school teachers and was a teacher’s aide at Carlisle School for 10 years. Florence was active in Twig 16 and a member of In-As-Much Circle of the King’s Daughters for 25 years. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, quilting, cooking and baking, doing puzzles, reading, and her music.



Her family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Thursday, February 25 at Wise Funeral Service. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bucyrus with Pastor Michael Greenler and Pastor Jack Kocsis officiating. A private burial will we be held in Chapel Heights Memory Gardens in Marion.
