Evelyn M. Feik

Evelyn Marie (Johnson) Feik passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Sunday, November 1, 2026 at Mill Creek Nursing & Rehab, Galion.

Evelyn was born on December 20, 1933, at home in New Winchester to the late Mildred Marie (Nelson) Johnson and Harley Harrison “Jake” Johnson. Evelyn was a 1951 graduate of Whetstone High School. Evelyn married the late Kenneth Phillip Feik on June 3, 1962, and they lived on the family farm enjoying 62 years together.

Evelyn worked at JJ Newberry in Bucyrus and Timken for many years before becoming a full time farm wife and raising their son, Phil.

Evelyn was a member of the First United Church of Christ in Galion where she was an active member of the Friendship Circle. She always found ways to help with the church whether it was bringing her famous baked beans to funeral dinners or helping with the corn roast and VBS.

Evelyn’s pride and joy was her son Phillip until the grandkids started coming. Her attention quickly turned to them and the time she got to spend with them. She loved every stage of their lives, whether it was taking them to preschool, getting them off the bus, making cookies and playing with Play-Doh at the kitchen table, or attending every musical program and sporting event she could. She was not going to miss an opportunity to brag about them by being their biggest fan.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband and parents; her brother-in-law, Edward Matthews; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Catherine (Feik) and Melvin James, and Floyd and Doris Burkhart. Surviving is her son and daughter-in-law, Phillip and Michelle (Schank) Feik; grandchildren, Lydia (Philip) Sherman, Corin (Nolan) McKibben, Julia Feik and her fiancé, Elliot Geissman, and Kevin Feik; sister, Joyce Matthews of Louisville, KY; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Carolyn (Feik) and Eldon Pfleiderer of Bucyrus; along with several nieces and nephews.

Evelyn’s family will receive friends on Thursday, November 5 from 3-6 pm at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus. Her funeral will be on Friday, November 6 at 10:00 am at First United Church of Christ, 248 Harding Way West in Galion, with Pastor Chris Buckingham-Tayler officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, Sulphur Springs.

Rather than sending flowers, contributions can be made payable to Galion First UCC or Colonel Crawford Music Boosters and can be given through the funeral home.

The Feik family would like to thank the staff at Mill Creek Nursing and Rehab for their wonderful care given to Evelyn and our family for the 3.5 years she has been a resident. Your love and support and sacrifice you give your patients do not go unnoticed.

Memories and photos can be shared in the guestbook of Evelyn’s tribute page at www.wisefuneral.com.
