Elon E. Stadler

Elon E. Stadler, 83, of Bucyrus, died February 25, 2022 at her home after years of declining health.

Elon was born January 27, 1939 to the late Sheldon and LaBerta (Shultz) Emery in Dayton. She graduated from Fairview High School where she did synchronized swimming, then went on to attend Wilmington College. Elon would transfer to the University of Dayton and graduate in 1962 with her bachelor’s degree in education. That same year she would marry the love of her life, Hans Stadler, on August 4th. The family would move to Bucyrus in 1976 for Hans’ job. Elon worked as a Home Economics teacher for four years before teaching at Fairway School. She would work there for 32 years before retiring.

Elon would occasionally help at the Eco Trend Thrift Store which she encouraged her friend to create. She had a heart of gold and never missed an opportunity to help others. Elon also had a soft spot for animals and loved her dogs dearly. Elon grew up sailing and would continue to until her health worsened in recent years. She liked to camp with Hans and their friends locally. Elon’s favorite camping location was Kelley’s Island. She loved spending time with her family. Whenever Elon was at home, she was either knitting, crocheting, or sewing. Every new child in the family would be gifted a baby blanket made with love by Elon. She was a member of the Bucyrus United Methodist Church and the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Elon is survived by her husband of 59 years, Hans Stadler; son, David (Angela) Stadler; daughter, Susan (Scott Hart) Stone; grandchildren, Olivia (Michael) Glover, Erica Stadler, and Claudia Stone; great-grandson, Harrison Glover; and brother, John Emery. She was preceded in death by her son, Charlie Stadler, and her twin infant daughters.

Elon’s family will receive friends on Friday, March 4 from 4-6 PM at Bucyrus United Methodist Church with her service to follow with Pastor Mike Corwin officiating. A private burial will be held at Greenwood Union Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made payable to Fairway School and be sent to Wise Funeral Service. Photos and memories can be shared on Elon’s tribute wall.
