Elden B. Campbell, 84, died Wednesday evening, February 17, 2021 at Altercare of Bucyrus where he had been a resident for eight years.



He was born April 7, 1936 in Holmes Twp. to the late Wayne and Carrie Naomi (Bauer) Campbell. He graduated from Holmes-Liberty in 1954 and Wittenberg University in 1958. Elden moved to Cleveland where he worked in retail sales for over 40 years at H.W. Beattie & Sons Jewelers.



Elden will be remembered as a friendly, witty, and happy Christian man. He enjoyed following the Cleveland Indians and Browns and watched many Tribe games at the stadium after work. He also enjoyed bowling, piano music, walking his dogs, and tending to his flower gardens. A man of faith, he was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church in Willoughby and had joined the congregation of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sulphur Springs after his move to the nursing home.



Elden in survived by brothers, Lloyd (Barbara) Campbell of Mission, Texas and Myron (Rhonda) Campbell of Bucyrus; nieces, Lisa Cardon (Todd), Julie Bayko (Ron), and Sharon Hudler (Mike); and nephews, Allan Campbell (Rose Ann), Gary Campbell (Linnea), Todd Campbell, Ken Campbell (Millie), and Steve Campbell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Neva Lucille Cardon and her husband Sam; sister-in-law, Betty Campbell, and niece, Linda Winey.



Services will take place on Monday, February 22 at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus. Friends may call from 10-10:55 am, the funeral will begin at 11:00 am with Pastor Hans Scherner officiating, and burial will follow in Brokensword Cemetery.



Elden’s family thanks Dr. Becky Strickland and the entire staff of Altercare for their love and kindness while caring for him over the past eight years.



Memorial donations should be made payable to St. Paul Lutheran Church-Ridgeton Road, American Diabetes Association, or Humane Society Serving Crawford County and given through the funeral home. Memories and photos can be shared on Elden’s Tribute Wall.
