Dorothy M. Tallman

Dorothy May Tallman, 82, of Bucyrus, died on Sunday, July 26, 2026 at the OSU Wexner Medical Center while under the care of Central Ohio Hospice.

Dorothy was born on April 19, 1944 in Bucyrus to the late Clifford E. and Alice M. (Engle) Tallman.

She was a very independent lady who was often seen walking from place to place throughout town. Her daily adventures often included stopping to visit her friends at the Cory Law Office and the Council on Aging, where she socialized with others and worked to complete many jigsaw puzzles. She often had her favorite cart or wagon which helped to carry her favorite tomatoes and supplies needed to care for Tommy, her “beloved” cat. Dorothy was always excited about the Bratwurst Festival, local city fireworks display, and visits to the local farmers market where she found the best items to help make her special potato salad recipe. Christmas was her favorite holiday, and she always enjoyed an iced cold Pepsi.

Dorothy was a member of Woodlawn Global Methodist Church and was active at the Crawford County Council on Aging, the place she considered her second home.

She is survived by her sister, Ellen Daniel; cousins, nieces and nephews as well as her close friend, Carol Gillespie. She appreciated the companionship offered by those at the Council on Aging, Cory Law Firm and especially, Tommy, as well as other cats owned throughout her life.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by brothers, Jim, Paul and Clifford.

Friends are invited to visit from 10 – 11 am on Friday, July 31 at Wise Funeral Service, with her funeral to immediately follow at 11:00 am with Pastor Sean McLeod officiating. Burial will take place in Oakwood Cemetery.
