Dorothy M. Tidaback

Dorothy M. Tidaback, 99 of Bucyrus, died Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Altercare of Bucyrus.



Born May 26, 1917 in Liberty Twp., she was one of three children of the late Jesse and Anna (Loyer) Knappenberger. Dorothy graduated from Bucyrus High School in 1935 and worked a short time at Kaynee Co. and Swan Rubber before marrying the love of her life, Edgar L. Tidaback on August 16, 1941. This began her lifelong career as a devoted homemaker; caring for her husband and four sons. Edgar preceded her in death on February 9, 1974.



Dorothy loved cooking and baking and will be remembered for her delicious pies. She also enjoyed planting flowers around her home and always had a colorful arrangement of impatients, as they were her favorite.



Being a feisty woman who was strong willed and opinionated, Dorothy kept her home running smoothly and saw to it that her family attended church growing up; worshiping at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.



She is survived by her four sons, Kenneth Tidaback of St. Petersburg, Fla., Charles Tidaback and close friend, Tami Welton, Randy (Janell) Tidaback and Danny Tidaback all of Bucyrus; two grandsons, Jacob (Ashley) Tidaback of Tiffin and Zachary Tidaback of Athens, Ohio as well as two great grandchildren, Amelia and Rowan Tidaback.



Along with her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Kenneth Knappenberger and a daughter-in-law, Gloria Tidaback.



A private graveside funeral will be held in Oakwood Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be given to the Bucyrus Salvation Army C/O Wise Funeral Service, 129 W. Warren St. Bucyrus, Ohio 44820.
