Donna M. Briggs

Donna Marie Briggs, 94, of Marion, died Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton, Florida.

She was born February 11, 1928 in Marion to the late Francis and Susie Trimmer. On July 18, 1948, she married Clarence E. Briggs and he preceded her in death on March 13, 1990.

Donna worked at General Electric in Bucyrus for many years and, after her sons were grown, she and Clarence decided to follow close friends to Bradenton, the place they would call home until his unexpected passing. Donna returned to Marion where she was closer to family and also worked at the Marion Walmart as a cashier and greeter until retiring in her mid-80s.

Donna will be remembered for her sassy personality and wasn’t afraid to share her opinion with others. She had a great sense of humor and time with family made her happiest. She and her sister (or partner in crime), Norma, shared many fun and interesting times together over the years and Donna cherished being with or hearing any good news involving her grandchildren. After Clarence’s death, Donna continued wintering in Florida where she enjoyed time spent with her son Greg and family. Then she’d make her way back to the Buckeye State to reconnect with son Mike and family. In earlier years, she bowled in various leagues at Crawford Lanes, and she has always enjoyed reading a good book. Donna passionately cheered for her Cleveland Indians and OSU Buckeyes, and she found the beach to be the most relaxing place on earth.

She will be missed by her sons, Mike (Barclay) Briggs of Marion and Gregory (Linda) Briggs of Bradenton; her grandchildren (who thought she was the coolest grandma), Heather (Chad) Lynn, Desra (Bill) Wells, Natalie (Patrick) Briggs, Gretchen (Sam) Hart, Beau (Melissa) Briggs, Stephanie (Dave) Smith, and Ryan (Megan) Lawson; 12 great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter; siblings, Nick (Esther) Trimmer and Vivian Vance along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her stepmother, Paulina Trimmer; siblings, Don, Bill, and Dale Trimmer, Norma Baldauf, and Jackie Cole.

Donna’s family will celebrate her life privately and she will be laid to rest in Waldo Cemetery. If desired, contributions can be made payable to a charity of the donor’s choice. These gifts will be accepted through Wise Funeral Service, 129 W. Warren St., Bucyrus, Ohio 44820.
