Tippecanoe

Dennis E. Taylor

Dennis Eugene Taylor, 70, of Tippecanoe, Ohio recently passed away at his residence due to natural causes.

Dennis was born on May 17, 1953 in Morganfield, Kentucky to the late Harold Douglas Taylor and Betty Louise (Hart) Taylor who survives in Bucyrus. Following his father’s discharge from The United States Army, they moved to Bucyrus to be closer to family. Dennis grew up on the family farm of 140 acres, located on State Route 98 across from Outhwaite Reservoir.  It was during these years that he learned the value of hard work. He went on to graduate from Colonel Crawford High School in 1971 and spent most of his career working in the construction industry. Dennis worked for contractors such as Jennings & Churella and Moser, serving as Superintendent for many multimillion-dollar commercial construction projects. He was never afraid of a hard day’s work and ultimately retired from the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, Local 735.

Dennis grew up in the Nazarene Church and had also attended other churches while living outside of Bucyrus. He was a proud Republican and a member of the NRA.

Dennis was very protective and supportive of those he loved.  Earlier in life, he enjoyed time spent boating and fishing on Lake Erie, as well as riding his Harley Davidson. He spent many years hunting with his family, and was quite a gifted singer and guitarist, performing with several musicians and bands throughout his life.

Dennis was a true outdoorsman and, about 17 years ago, purchased 11 acres of land, which he called home in Tippecanoe, Ohio. This property became his new project that he turned into a wildlife sanctuary.  He loved digging with his backhoe, tinkering with things in his pole barn and always made time to sit on his deck to take in all that God created. But as much as Dennis loved the peace and serenity of his property, he loved his family more. He looked forward to their family reunions and was grateful for all time spent together. He loved to grill for them and always had favorite snacks for his grandchildren when they visited.

He will be deeply missed by his mother, Betty Taylor; daughters, Crystle Stephenson, Kimberly (JR) Jenney and Ashley (Cody) McCormick; grandchildren, Brooke Stephenson, Reegyn Goyer, Tanner Perpetua, Elysia McCormick and a soon to be fifth; brothers, Randall Taylor and Marvin (Melanie) Taylor; special niece, Madison Taylor who referred to him as “Uncle D”, as well as many other nieces, nephews and cousins whom he loved dearly.

Dennis was preceded in death by his father, Harold Taylor; son, Michael Taylor and brother, Roger Taylor.

The Taylor family would like to extend a special thank you to Pastor Ray and Jan LaSalle who have always been available to Dennis and their family with prayers and support. They would also like to thank Frank and Trish Corona, neighbors of Dennis for their friendship.

Calling hours will be held from 11-12:55 pm on Tuesday, April 16 at Bucyrus Nazarene Church, 2165 OH 4, Bucyrus, where his funeral will follow at 1:00 pm with Pastor Ray LaSalle officiating. He will be laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Bucyrus Nazarene Church and will be accepted through Wise Funeral Service or at the church on the day of his funeral. For all those who knew and loved him, expressions of sympathy are encouraged to be shared on his guestbook page.
