Dennis L. Mollenkopf

Dennis Lee Mollenkopf, 79, of Bucyrus, passed of natural causes on Monday, December 15, 2025 at his home.

Dennis was born July 6, 1946 in Bucyrus to the late Paul W. Mollenkopf and Dolores (Kinn) Mollenkopf Hewitt. He was a 1964 graduate of Bucyrus High School and spent 30 plus years working at General Electric before retiring at the age of 55.

Dennis was an eccentric individual whose mind was constantly curious in thought. He dabbled in photography, sign making, and woodworking, producing some unique creations which often won prizes at area festivals. He was very much a car enthusiast and enjoyed his collection of cars, which he worked on and certainly enjoyed driving around town. Dennis was a founding member of the Eliminators Car Club, an organization that’s brought together car enthusiasts as well as helped raise thousands of dollars for area organizations.

He enjoyed time spent with those he loved and for relaxation, Dennis was often found tinkering in his garage. At Halloween, Dennis, AKA, Mr. Wizard, passed out a variety of fruit, vegetables, and full-size candy bars. He had quite a following of trick or treaters and, ironically, often ran out of the fruits and vegetables before the candy. During birthdays and holidays, Dennis often thought of others with a special card and truly enjoyed seeing others happy.

Dennis will be missed by two sons, Mathew (Serena) Mollenkopf and their daughter, Gretchen, and Justin (Fawn) Mollenkopf; brother, Bob Mollenkopf; companion, Gay Sherman; as well as some nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, Dennis was preceded in death by his sister, Paula Kay Clegg and a sister-in-law, Donna Mollenkopf.

Dennis’ family will celebrate his life privately, but if desired, donations can be made payable to the Eliminators Car Club or to the Crawford Park District.
