Lester Delbert Kissling, 76, died Thursday, November 5, 2026 at Unger Park Post Acute, whose care from the nurses, aides, and Melissa his family is grateful.
He was born in Bucyrus on July 17, 1950 to the late Lester H. and Maxine P. (Williams) Kissling. Delbert enjoyed family picnics and visits to Lake Erie while growing up. He worked in sawmills, both at his dad’s mill and in Nevada. He finished his working years in shipping and receiving at American Wire Tech.
Delbert will be remembered for his strong will and determination, along with his self-deprecating sense of humor. He kept to himself but enjoyed sharing conversations with old friends and fellow car enthusiasts. His attention to detail was displayed in his love for building model ships and woodworking. That same attention was also devoted to genealogy, tracing his ancestry back over 200 years.
Delbert is survived by daughter, Angela (Dale) Butler; grandchildren, Blair (Chris) Trespel and Cannon Butler; brother, Richard (Dorothy) Gearhart; sister, Suzette (Mike) Burger; sister-in-law, Patsy Gearhart; several nieces and nephews; and his longtime friend, John Spears.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Toby Ann Reinhart and brothers, Robert Gearhart and John Kissling.
Delbert will be laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery. No services will be held per his expressed wishes. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution may make gifts payable to a charity of their choice and give at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus.
Memories and photos can be shared in the guestbook of Delbert’s tribute page at www.wisefuneral.com.
