Dean V. White

Dean V. White, 77, of Akron and formerly of Bucyrus, went home to be with the Lord April 18, 2023 after a lengthy illness.

Dean was born December 27, 1945 In Chillicothe, Ohio to the late Donald and Leona (Hall) White and was a 1964 Chillicothe High School graduate. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Poultry Science from Ohio State University and later completed his master’s degree in education from Ohio State University in 1986. He enriched the lives of others while teaching Vocational Education at Tri-Rivers in Marion and traveled the area as a State Certified Meat and Poultry Inspector.

At age 14, Dean proudly served as the youngest Superintendent in the state for the Poultry division of Ross Country Fair. He was also proud of the star and cross that he and fellow high school classmates constructed, which illuminated Carlisle Hill during Christmas and Easter. Dean was a member of First United Methodist Church in Bucyrus; active in various Masonic and Shrine organizations; enjoyed refereeing basketball games as a Registered Basketball Official and served two terms on the Bucyrus City School District Board of Education. He was an avid antique and coin collector, loved The Ohio State Buckeyes and was a strong football supporter as a season ticket holder for over 40 years.

Dean was the second oldest of 9 children and was preceded in death by one brother, Dana and one sister, Loree. He is survived by children, Lisa White of Bryan, Texas, Brad (Jennifer) White of Cincinnati, Brian (Jenny) White of Cincinnati, and Aaron (Amy) White of Dallas, Texas; eight grandchildren, Alexander, Braden, Jackson, Hannah, Jacob, Maddie, Lucas, and Katelyn; one brother, Donald (Linda) Olen White Jr.; five sisters, Jeannine (David) Diehl, Deidra (Stephen) Soler’, LouAnne (Steven) Musick, Johnida Joy White and Joscelyn Wood as well as several nieces and nephews. Dean will be missed by his family and friends.

All public services for Dean will take place on Saturday, April 22 at Wise Funeral Service. Masonic Services will begin at 10:45 am; calling hours from 11-1 pm followed by his funeral beginning at 1:00 pm with Bishop Ted Thomas officiating. Dean will privately be laid to rest in Hitler-Ludwig Cemetery in Circleville, Ohio on Monday, April 24.

If desired, donations can be made payable to the Bucyrus United Methodist Church or a charity of the donor’s choice. These gifts will be accepted through the funeral home and expressions of sympathy are encouraged to be shared on his tribute wall.
