David C. Kieffer, 80, died late Thursday, December 4, 2025 from a sudden heart attack.
He was born in Bucyrus on August 1, 1945, the only child of the late Glenn M. and Anna Belle (Corfman) Kieffer. David grew up on the family farm in Wyandot County and graduated from Upper Sandusky High School in 1963. He worked for Swan Hose for 35 years in the lab and receiving before its closure. He then joined the Peoples Savings and Loan Co. as their compliance officer until his retirement. When David was very young, his mother learned the teachings of Jehovah God and joined the local congregation of Jehovah’s Witness. The same faith was instilled in David, and he was a faithful servant of Jehovah God. A mutual friend introduced David to Phyllis Spangler and they were married October 8, 1977 and she survives him.
David will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and readiness to help at any time in any situation. Caring for others was a true calling that he carried out selflessly. He also loved good food and enjoyed entertaining and dining in good restaurants. David had a great memory for trivial facts which made him a great conversationalist always ready with a story or joke. He was very handy, restoring his home and antique furniture. He appreciated a well-kept yard, loved planting flowers, and was gifted at arranging flowers. A travel enthusiast, he and Phyllis enjoyed several trips with visits “out west” being especially memorable. On each trip, he collected some sand at each destination and even had sand from the travels of friends and family.
All services for David Kieffer will be held on Saturday, January 17 in the Galion Kingdom Hall, 915 Portland Way North. Friends may call from 11 am – 1:55 pm and a memorial service will begin at 2:00 pm. A private burial will be held in Nevada Cemetery.
Those wishing to make memorial contributions are encouraged to make them payable to Galion Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses or American Heart Association. Gifts can be given on the day of the service or at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus. Memories and photos can be shared on the guestbook of David’s tribute page at www.wisefuneral.com.
