Darlene A. Cady

Darlene A. Cady, 75, died Monday, March 6, 2023 at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital after several weeks of failing health.

She was born in Marion on May 30, 1947 to the late Glenn E. and Reba Darlene (Converse) Aust. After graduating from Wynford High School in 1965, she met Roger Cady at either Greter’s Lake near Mansfield, or at a mixer in Bucyrus, depending on who was telling the story. In either case, they were a great match and married on May 15, 1967.

Darlene will be remembered as a kind soul who loved the Lord, her family, and singing. She never said a cross word to or about anyone and was often telling others about the Lord. She came to faith at age 29 through the ministry of Reuben Leuthold and Wayside Chapel. She worshiped for many years at the former First Baptist Church and at Bucyrus Nazarene Church for the last several years. Though she hadn’t driven in over 25 years due to vision loss, Darlene looked forward to staying busy every day. She talked to family and friends on the phone, saw that her home was tidy, read her Bible, and prayed daily. She used to enjoy meeting with the former Silver Sneakers at the YMCA and her grade school friends, Sally and Mary, remained close as well. Darlene loved children. She worked as an aide for Good Hope Preschool after raising her family and was always her happiest when the grandchildren and great grandchildren visited.

Darlene is survived by her husband of 55 years, Roger; children, Lisa Alsept and Glenn (Tonie) Cady; grandchildren, Jessica, Chase, Austin, Kendra, Tanner, and Joe; and seven great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sister, Debbie Stiger.

Services for Darlene will be held on Saturday, March 11. Family will receive friends at Wise Funeral Service from 10 am – 12 Noon, then proceed to Nevada Cemetery where her graveside funeral will begin at 12:30 with Pastor Ray LaSalle officiating.
