Danny L. Russ

Danny Lee Russ, 74, died Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Altercare of Bucyrus after weeks of failing health.

He was born in Bucyrus on November 10, 1951 to the late Harry and Berta (Markin) Russ and graduated from Colonel Crawford High School in 1970. Danny was a gifted cabinet maker and carpenter. He worked for the former Kime Lumber for 27 years and finished his working years with Structure Enterprises and Waycraft Industries. He married the former Jane L. Eulett on June 13, 1997.

Danny will be remembered as a soft spoken and faithful man who loved with all his heart. His wife and family’s well-being were always top of mind. He was a man of faith who often had gospel music playing and worshiped at the Shelby Church of God. He was also a former member of the Moose Lodge, AmVets, and VFW.

In years past, Danny was an avid golfer who also bowled and played softball. He was forever tinkering or “Russ-rigging” something that needed fixed or improved. When grandchildren came along, he welcomed his little helpers and took joy in doing projects with them. His lawn and rose bushes were beautifully cared for as well. Danny and Jane had the privilege of visiting Europe when their son-in-law was stationed there with sightseeing stops in Germany, France, Switzerland, and Italy.

Danny is survived by his bride, Jane Russ; daughters, Aubrey (Kevin) Mason and Lisa (Roy) Hughes; grandchildren, Ethan “Eth-man” Hughes, Aiden Mason, Gracie Mason, Olivia Mason, and Addison Mason; brother-in-law, Pat (Gwen) Eulett; along with nieces and nephews, including Pam (Jerry) Cooperider.

In addition to his parents, Danny was preceded in death by four siblings, Harry Gene Russ, Ralph “Red” Russ, Violet Russ, and Shirley Russ, and his in-laws, Harold and Esta Eulett.

Danny’s family will gather for a private funeral with Pastor Rick Lewis officiating. Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to make them payable to Shelby Church of God or Humane Society Serving Crawford County. They can be given at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus.
