Daniel R. Pfleiderer, 75, died peacefully Friday, February 4, 2022 at Orchard Park Assisted Living where he had resided for 13 years.
Dan was born in Bucyrus on July 3, 1946 to the late Howard and Dolores (Powers) Pfleiderer and baptized at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. He grew up in Oceola and attended Wynford Schools. His mental handicap did not keep him from working hard and he enjoyed his work as a groundskeeper at Oakwood Cemetery.
Dan’s love for spectator sports was nurtured by his father. He loved to watch football, basketball, and NASCAR. His brother took him to Michigan Speedway for a race and Dan was excited to see some of his favorite drivers in person. He also loved sipping on a cold Mountain Dew, going fishing, and will be remembered for getting around town by bicycle and tricycle. Dan especially thrived under the care of Ginger Rothschild at home and the incredible love and care he received from “my friends” at Orchard Park.
He is survived by brother, Tom Pfleiderer; niece, Stacie (Steve) Stoltz; nephew, Shane Pfleiderer; and aunt, Judith Welch.
Friends may gather in Oakwood Cemetery for Dan’s graveside funeral on Wednesday, February 9 at 2:00 pm where Pastor Mike Greenler of St. Paul’s Church will officiate as he is laid to rest next to his parents.
Memorial donations are encouraged to be made payable to Avita Hospice who helped care for Dan in recent months. They can be given at Wise Funeral Service or brought to the service. Memories and photos can be shared on Dan’s Tribute Wall.
