Dale W. Miller, 91 of Bucyrus, died Sunday, June 8, 2025 at his home.
He was born on December 30, 1933 at home in Holmes Twp. to the late Perry W. and Florence C. (Green) Miller. Dale attended school until his father hurt himself. It was around this time; he learned the value of hard work and would spend the next few years working on their family farm. He enlisted with the Army and worked as a mechanic while stationed in Germany. Following his discharge, he returned home and while at a church function, met Donna J. Brooks. They married and this past December, celebrated 65 years of marriage. During those years, unless he was working, they were practically inseparable. Dale worked as a welder and spent many years at both Cobey and Komatsu Dresser before retiring at the age of 64.
Dale was a believer who spent many years worshipping at the Nevada Pilgrim Holiness Church and most recently attended the Marion Allegheny Wesleyan Methodist Church.
He cherished any time spent with his grandchildren and his great grandchildren, and did his best to make them smile. Dale loved his time spent on the mower and he and Donna tended to both flower and vegetable gardens, but most of all, he loved time with his chainsaw cutting firewood. Monday through Saturday at 11 am and 4 pm, you’d find them at McDonald’s for their meals and Dale always enjoyed a coffee with just a wee little bit of sugar. Dale did have a sweet tooth and even though he never turned down a sweet treat, one of his favorites was a black raspberry fry pie. For relaxation, he enjoyed tuning into Wynford Basketball and OSU Buckeyes on his radio.
In addition to wife, Donna, Dale is survived by children, Jeff Sr. (Debbie) Miller, Steve (Pam) Miller, Linda (Bryan) Say, Ron (Rebecca) Miller, and Kim (Matt) Ferguson; grandchildren, Jeff Jr. (Kayla) Miller, Jennifer (Jeremy) Elkins, Michael Miller, Tim Ort, Kayle (Gage) Roe, James (Kaylie) Ort, Rachel Haight, Nathan (Bethany) Say, Julia (Clayton) Myers, Celestia (Nick) Holguin, Tessa (Adam) Kotulock, Jeremy (Arica) Ferguson, and Jason (Lynne) Ferguson; great grandchildren, Jarissa, Jacelynn, Chet, Jaliyah, Oliver, Laramie, Aubrey, Levi, Keegan, Wyatt, Henry and Gracelyn; siblings, Marvin Miller, Marlene Saltzman, Darle Miller, Norma “Jane” Miller, and Gladys Wolf as well as many extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Perry and Florence Miller; grandson, Justin Ferguson and siblings, Dolores Brown, Sharon Young, Lyle Miller, Wilma Swart and Evelyn Miller.
Family will receive friends from 4 – 7 pm Wednesday, June 11, at Wise Funeral Service, where his funeral will be held at 11:00 am Thursday with Rev. Brian Spangler officiating. Burial will follow in Lust Cemetery where Military Rites will be provided by both the Army Honor Guard and the Bucyrus Veterans Military Funeral Detail.
If desired, donations can be made payable to Gideons International and will be accepted through the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy are encouraged to be shared on his guestbook page at www.wisefuneral.com,
