Christine Malone Short

Christine Ann (Malone) Short, 59, died unexpectedly in her sleep Wednesday morning, May 28, 2025 after years of poor health.

She was born in Bucyrus on October 11, 1965 to the late Ben and Ruth (Terry) Malone. Chris graduated from Bucyrus High School and studied early childhood education in college. Though she never had children herself, she loved the kids she was blessed to help care for of both friends and family. Chris married Scott Short on September 12, 2009.

Chris never met a stranger and enjoyed striking up conversations and making others laugh. After working at Wire Assemblies and driving ambulance, she was a longtime volunteer at Bucyrus Community Hospital and the Bratwurst Festival which she looked forward to each summer. She loved playing BINGO with her mom, shopping wherever she could find a bargain, and was always ready with a craft to keep kids busy.

Chris is survived by husband, Scott; brother, Jeff (Valerie) Malone; nephew, Joshua (Sara) Malone and their children, Addison, Aubrii, Alaina, Allie, and Aspen; niece, Santana (Jason) Stamper and their children, Aaron, Skye, Layla, and Bentley; granddaughter, Grace Clarkson; niece, Mandy (Rocky) Bash and her children, Kamden, Koltin, Lucas, and Daxton; great grandnieces, Lily, Mila, and Fraya; best friend, Tessa Efaw and her grandchildren, Klaudia, LalaKay, Edward, Gage, Anna, Zaramae, Jeremiah, and Chance; and her beloved nieces, the Kleinhoffer girls, Stacie Hargis, Stephnie Scott, Shaynie (Matt) Strawser, and Shelbie (Joe) Neptune, and their children, McKinley Hargis, Justus Hargis, Kael Scott, Piper Neptune, Rourke Neptune, and Finley Neptune; along with countless extended family and friends she held dear.

Chris’ family held a private gathering to say their goodbyes and no public services are planned.
