Cheryl K. Vance-Veeley, 57, of Caledonia died Monday afternoon, December 31, 2018 at OSU Wexner Medical Center after battling a lung disease for three years.
She was born in Columbus on September 29, 1961 to the late John Vance and Jeneva (Ferro) Runyon who survives. While growing up, Cheryl enjoyed swimming and bowling. She graduated from Northland High School and assisted clients through her work at the Ohio Heartland Community Action Commission.
Cheryl was very creative, making many crafts and sold her work in area sales and shows. Though she had a stubborn streak, she will be remembered for her kind and giving spirit. She enjoyed going to car shows, holiday family gatherings, reminiscing over pizza with old friends, and the company of her dogs, Ellie, Tobi, and Millie.
In addition to her mother, Cheryl is survived by children, Angela Veeley (Chris Frazzini), Donovan Veeley, Justin (Kimberly) Niedermier, and Jared (Katelyn) Niedermier; grandson, Nicholas; her longtime companion, Rick Niedermier; brothers, Joe (Diane) Vance and Pat Vance; stepfather, Hugh Runyon; and stepsister, Jamie (Brandon) Allen. She was preceded in death by her stepsister, Edie Decker, and father.
Cheryl’s family will receive friends on Friday, January 4 from 5-8 pm at Wise Funeral Service, 129 W Warren St, Bucyrus, Ohio 44820. Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 10:00 am in the chapel of Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 5600 E Broad St, Columbus, OH 43213, where she will be entombed in the mausoleum.
