Charles F. Dierksheide

Charles F. Dierksheide, 88, of Bucyrus, passed peacefully on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at Legacy Bucyrus.

He was born October 29, 1935 in Kenton, Ohio to the late Fred W. and Marie A. (Sander) Dierksheide and in 1947, their family moved to Bucyrus. Charlie attended Manor School for Boys in Jonesville, Michigan from 1948 to 1958 after which he was associated in business with his father. He worked at the Bucyrus Farmers Exchange and later at the Bucyrus Grain Co. until 1973 when the grain company sold and his father retired. Charlie was also a 50-year employee with Fairway Industries and was active in their sports program.

Since 1979, he’s enjoyed the many friendships formed while living at Broken Arrow and will be remembered as an independent individual. He was a member of Good Hope Lutheran Church and for many years was active in the scouting program of Troop 60. He also assisted as a scout leader for several of those years.

Charlie was happiest around others and wasn’t shy about striking up a conversation. He loved the one-on-one time offered by the Broken Arrow staff, which usually led to a nice dinner and Charlie cherished any time spent with his extended family. He always looked forward to his annual trip to visit them in Florida and proudly brought Carle’s Bratwurst to share.

Charlie liked following Ohio sports teams and had quite the DVD collection which provided hours of enjoyment and relaxation, but his favorite hobby or activity was time spent on the horse farm, where he sang to them, brushed them, and even rode one on his 86th birthday.

He is survived by a nephew, Jeff (Tammy) Dierksheide; nieces, Nancy (Ray) Ziemnik and Jill Kindell as well as other extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by his brother, James Dierksheide.

A viewing for friends will be held from 3 – 5 pm Tuesday, May 7 at Wise Funeral Service. Eight days later, on Wednesday, May 15, his family will receive friends at Good Hope Lutheran Church from 10-11 am, and his funeral will follow at 11:00 am with Pastor Tanyce Addison officiating. He will then be laid to rest in Troy Township Cemetery in Luckey, Ohio.

Memorial contributions can be made payable to either Waycraft Industries or to Good Hope Lutheran Church and will be accepted through the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy are encouraged to be shared on the guestbook of Charlie’s tribute page at www.wisefuneral.com.
