Charles D. Leuthold, 67, of Bucyrus, died Sunday, December 26, 2010 at Bucyrus Community Hospital following a lengthy battle with cancer.

He was born April 26, 1943 in Crestline to the late Melvin and Dorothy (Pickett) Leuthold. Chuck graduated from Holmes Liberty High School in 1961 and from 1964 to 1966 he served in the US Army Europe's 529th MP Company Honor Guard in Heidelberg, Germany.

He returned to Bucyrus and worked at Swan Hose until the mid-1970's and then worked at Bucyrus Blades until retiring in 2005. Chuck was a member of Woodlawn United Methodist Church; served on the Camp Michael Board of Directors and also served with the VFW Post 1078 Color Guard for a number of years.

Chuck loved visiting and sharing devotions with folks at various nursing homes as well as just talking with anyone around him.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his first wife, Vickie Jo (Nitschke) Leuthold; four brothers, Melvin, Donald, William and Robert Leuthold and one sister, Sharon Purdy.

Chuck is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Barbara (Carman) Leuthold; one daughter, Jill Reina Hill and husband Gregory of rural Bucyrus; two brothers, Larry Leuthold and wife Juanita of Bucyrus and Ronald "Buzz" Leuthold of Florida, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 PM Wednesday, December 29 at Wise Funeral Service. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday at Woodlawn UMC with full military rites being provided by the American Legion, Post 181 immediately following the service. Memorial contributions may be given to the Potter's House Homeless Dinner Program through the funeral home.
