Charles W. Cox

Charles Wayne Cox, 67, of Mansfield, died on Saturday, September 12, 2026 at Riverside Methodist Hospital following a decline in health.

He was born on January 4, 1959 in Bremerhaven, Germany to the late Charles Franklin and Mitzi Lorraine (Watson) Cox. Following his father’s discharge from the military, their family came to the rural Bucyrus area and Charles graduated from Col. Crawford High School in 1978. He was the owner of Mystic Moldwyrks, a company that produced miniatures for tabletop wargaming and was also a certified minister for Universal Life Church Ministries.

Charles was a renowned sculptor and humbled to have been a two-time winner of “The Peggy,” the highest award for professional creative effort in hobby ceramics. He was also a master mold maker, enjoyed knitting chain mail, embroidery, and was a long-standing member of the Klingon Assault Group (KAG). When not working with his wargaming miniatures and gaming, Chuck kept busy by caring for Thunder, his North American lion.

He is survived by children, Jason Cox and Danielle Cox; siblings, Kelvin “Kelly” (Kim) Cox and Suzette “Suzy” Gossett (Bobby); and nephews, Lee, John, Brandon, and Ben Cox. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Tracy Allen Cox.

Chuck wanted to be cremated and scattered in a peaceful place. Donations can be made payable to a charity of the donor’s choosing and these gifts will be accepted through Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus.
