Carolyn Snyder, 96, of Bucyrus, died Tuesday, April 6 at Heartland of Bucyrus. She was born March 18, 1914 in Tiro to the late Fred and Dee Ora (Carruthers) Wagner. Carolyn was a 1931 graduate of Tiro High School and on January 18, 1935 she married Kenneth W. Snyder who preceded her in death on June 10, 1996. Carolyn drove school bus in the early 1940's for Whetstone local schools but spent most of her life caring for her family as a homemaker and helping her husband with farm duties. She was a member of Gospel Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening and just being outdoors. Carolyn is survived by two sons, Larry Snyder and wife, Mary, and Ed Snyder and wife, Lauretta, both of rural Bucyrus; one daughter, Jean Ann Nigh and husband, Dr. Steven, of Greer, South Carolina; ten grandchildren, Randy (Jeanine) Snyder, Nancy (Greg) Morrison, Lisa (Chris) Hale, Gary (Shelly) Snyder, Doug (Sue) Snyder, Andrew Nigh, Caroline (John) Smith, Jeremy (Summer) Nigh, Dr. David Nigh and fiancée, Deborah, and Austin Nigh and 14 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Carolyn is preceded in death by a son, Roger Snyder, who died during infancy; a great grandson, Ethan Smith; a brother, Harold Wagner and a sister, Gwendolyn Wagner. Friends may call from 5 - 8 p.m. Friday, April 9 at Wise Funeral Service. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Gospel Baptist Church with Pastor Monty Trammel officiating. Burial will follow at Whetstone Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Gospel Baptist Church or Gideons International through the funeral home.
