Carol J. Long

Carol J. Long, 83, of Bucyrus died Thursday, August 11, 2016 at Bucyrus Community Hospital.



She was born December 12, 1932 in Chatfield, the only child of the late William and Laurhea (Geiger) Schnarrenberger. After graduating from Chatfield High School in 1950, Carol went to The Ohio State University where she earned a Bachelors in Home Economics, graduating Summa Cum Laude, and married Donald E. Long on March 20, 1954. She was devoted to her family and husband, balancing family life, church, and community activities. Carol was a 4-H advisor and worked with the Crawford County Republican Party alongside Don.



A woman of faith, Carol was raised in Nazareth Lutheran Church and joined Good Hope Lutheran after moving closer to Bucyrus. She will be remembered as Don’s faithful helpmate, traveling all over the country looking at livestock, attending cattle sales, and raising their family. He preceded her in death October 20, 2011.



Carol is survived by three children, Jim and Kathy Long and son Daniel of Redmond, Washington, Cynthia Long of Centreville, Virginia, and Craig and Deb Long and sons, Nathanial and Zachary of Crestwood, Kentucky.



A graveside funeral service will be held Sunday, August 14 at 2:00 pm in Nazareth Lutheran Cemetery, Chatfield. Memorial donations are encouraged to be given to Good Hope Lutheran Church through Wise Funeral Service, 129 W. Warren St., Bucyrus, Ohio 44820.
