Brenda K. Walsh

Brenda K. (Fox) Walsh, 59, of rural Chatfield, died January 17, 2021 at home surrounded by her family.

Brenda was born October 27, 1961 in Tiffin, Ohio to the late Walter J. and Ruth O. (Hoepf) Fox. Brenda attended St. Bernard Grade School, Buckeye Central High School and graduated from the University of Akron in 1984. She later earned her masters degree from Bowling Green State University. She taught mathematics at Saint Vincent-Saint Mary High School in Akron prior to returning to her alma mater in 1988 where she taught until her retirement in 2011. She then was blessed with opportunity to teach at Saint Bernard Grade School until her illness made that no longer possible.

Brenda, a devout Catholic and lifelong member of Saint Bernard Catholic Church, sought to live her faith every day.

Her one desire in life was to prepare her sons for the opportunity to chase their dreams and, in that effort, she was entirely successful.

Brenda had a thirst for knowledge and enjoyed any opportunity for travel, and often blended the two. She got to tour many of America’s great parks and cities and their sites as well as London, Dublin and Paris. She was able to tour and pray in Notre Dame Cathedral just weeks prior to the fire. She also had numerous beach vacations with friends and family.

Memories made will last forever.

The love and care Brenda received from family and friends will never be forgotten. The care she received from her team at The James: Anne, Jessica, Kara, Jenna, and Megan, was a true blessing, and Monica from Southern Care Hospice, who cared for Brenda so lovingly in her final days.

Brenda is survived by her husband Joe, whom she married in 1986, children Andrew and David (Olivia Valenti), brothers and sisters Duane (Judy Ann) Fox, Judy (Jerry) Noblit, Donald (Cindy) Fox, Marilyn Beran, Kenneth Fox, Norma Horwitz, Janet (Gail) Rowland, Carol (Daniel) Riemenschneider, Nancy (Randall) Hanes, mother-in-law Rita Walsh, sister-in-law Cynthia Walsh, Annette Parson, brother-in-law Michael (Pradit) Walsh, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and aunts and uncles.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her father-in-law James Walsh.

Her family will receive friends from on Thursday, January 21 from 3-7 pm at Wise Funeral Service, 129 W. Warren St. Bucyrus, where a Rosary service will begin at 7:00 pm to conclude the evening. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am Friday in St. Bernard Catholic Church with Fr. George Mahas as Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery.

Donations can be made payable to St. Bernard Church or OSUCCC-James (James Cancer Hospital). These gifts will be accepted through the funeral home or at the church on the morning of her service. Expressions of sympathy are encouraged to be shared on her Tribute Wall.
