Bonnie Norman

Bonnie “Trudy” Norman, a spiritual being who lived many human experiences, slipped into eternity on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 in the comfort of her home.

She was born September 11, 1942 in Bellevue to the late Bruce and Marie (Hedsel) Hart. Bonnie attended school in Bellevue, received her GED and went on to become an honor student while studying Art History and Psychology at OSU Marion. She moved to Bucyrus in 1968 and worked as a very knowledgeable bartender at the Mad Bull Restaurant for four years before hiring in at Timken in 1972. She worked as a cup inspector for many years and retired in 2002 from the Quality Control Dept. While at Timken, Bonnie met Gary E. Shupp. They shared many years as companions, creating memories along the way.

Bonnie felt one with nature and had a great love for animals. She cared for several throughout her life and maintained a big heart for her precious cats over the years. She recently appreciated the companionship with her cat, Cougar, for the past 19 years. Bonnie enjoyed deep conversations and proudly spoke her mind in support of women, human, and animal rights. Considered a very talented artist, Bonnie, or “Trudy” as she signed her pieces, found chalk drawing to be the most rewarding form of meditation. Her family and friends have treasured her many masterpieces created over the years. Bonnie’s artistic nature also led her to revamp her home décor more than average. This provided several quality recycled pieces for other family members homes. Christmas was her favorite time of the year! She worked extremely hard to provide gifts for her family on this special day as she loved to see the joy on everyone’s faces. Bonnie saw to it that her home was meticulous both inside and out. For relaxation, she loved watching old movies on Turner Classic Network while snacking on popcorn and drinking a Coke. Her other hobbies included reading and working in her yard.

She will be deeply missed by her longtime companion, Gary Shupp; son, Jeff (Natalie) Norman; daughter, Cathy (Mike) Studer; Gary’s three children, David Shupp, Brian (Cindy) Shupp and Amber (Lyle) Spitler; four grandchildren, Amber Emans, Brittany Norman, Dustin Studer, and Carissa Studer; 1 great grandchild, Jayden Emans; two siblings, Barry (Renee) Hart and Barbara (Mike) Taylor; Gary’s grandchildren, Chase Shupp, Michael Shupp and fiancée, Shiloh, Dustin, Waylon, and Gage Shupp, and Natalie and Ellie Spitler.

She was preceded in death by daughter, Candy Norman who died during infancy; two siblings, Bob Hart and Bev Baer, and a half-sister, Connie.

Her family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday April 6th at Wise Funeral Service, 129 W. Warren St., Bucyrus, Ohio where her funeral will take place at 11:00 Thursday April 7th with Pastor John Girard officiating. Those unable to attend her funeral in person are invited to visit her tribute wall at www.wisefuneral.com to view a live webcast of her funeral. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.

If desired, donations can be made payable to either, Humane Society Serving Crawford County, Avita Hospice or EndCAN (The National Foundation to End Child Abuse and Neglect). These gifts will be accepted through the funeral home.
