Ann Swisher

February 8, 1942 — June 7, 2022

Ann Swisher

Ann Elizabeth Swisher, 80, of Marion, passed peacefully Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at Kingston of Marion following a lengthy battle with Dementia.

She was born February 8, 1942 in Bucyrus to the late Earl and Marabelle (Maurice) Wert and was a 1960 graduate of Mt. Zion High School. Ann went on to earn her associates degree in business from The Ohio State University.

Ann was a very intelligent individual who intentionally lived to better the lives of those around her. Whether working, raising a family or socializing with someone she had never met, she made it her mission to leave a positive impact on their life. Ann spent several years working as an Executive Officer for both the Marion and Lake County Board of Realtors and in 1994, she became the Education and Ethics Officer for the Ohio Association of Realtors, aiding hundreds of realtors until her declining health forced her to retire in 2015.

Music was always a big part of Ann’s life. She grew up in the Kirkpatrick UMC where she had served as the choir director in early adulthood and was also formerly active at Epworth UMC and enjoyed playing in the bell choir. She taught piano lessons out of her home for several years and loved seeing her students excel. She loved Broadway musicals and was a strong supporter of the Marion Palace Theater. Ann was proud of serving on the Marion General Hospital Board of Directors as well as volunteering for various other civic organizations throughout her life.

Ann enjoyed any time spent with family and she was extremely supportive of her grandchildren and proud of their many accomplishments. To say she was organized is an understatement and she loved to unwind by reading a good book, working puzzles or crossword puzzles. A talented seamstress, Ann created many fantastic outfits and sewed some rather awesome Halloween costumes. Her drink of choice was always hot tea, and if you ever visited, she had several varieties to offer.

She leaves behind her greatest accomplishments, including her sons, Tim (Jen) Swisher and their two children, Caleb (Chelsea) Swisher and Carli (Jake) McCurdy and Todd (Danielle) Swisher and their two children, Kade and Maddox Swisher; great grandchildren, Lukas Phelps, Elliott Swisher, Walker Swisher and Brixley McCurdy. She is also survived by two siblings, Richard (Cindy) Wert and Carol (David) Sanders and Ann was a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Her family will receive friends from 4-6:55 pm Monday, June 13 at Wise Funeral Service, where her funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm with her nephew, Pastor Kenneth Wert officiating. She will be laid to rest in Grand Prairie Cemetery at a later date.

Her family would be humbled that rather than receiving flowers and other trinkets, if gifts could be made payable to either the Alzheimer’s Association of Central Ohio or Tranquility Hospice. These donations will be accepted through the funeral home and online memories are encouraged to be shared on her Tribute Wall.
