Wayne Perdue

Wayne Perdue, 72, of Bucyrus died Sunday evening, July 26, 2015 at OSU Wexner Medical Center in Columbus after failing health in recent weeks.

He was born May 18, 1943 to the late Grady and Dorothy (Freeman) Perdue shortly after his family moved to Bucyrus from Tennessee. Wayne attended Bucyrus Schools and worked with his father at Perdue Roofing and Spouting. Sonny Fortner introduced Wayne to his sister, Sueann in 1965 and they were married May 20, 1967.

Wayne overcame a lot of adversity and hardship over his lifetime. He had epilepsy from a young age but always had a cheerful attitude and enjoyed joking with people. Wayne could turn what many considered junk into something useful. He enjoyed watching sports, going to auctions and will be remembered for his creative topiary projects along Plymouth Street. He was loyal with old-fashioned values and true to his family, willing to stop whatever he was doing to lend a hand to those in need. His faith was carried out in his actions. Although he was a homebody, he loved traveling with his family.

Wayne is survived by his bride of 48 years, Sueann Perdue; children, Gina (Clyde “Moses”) McCleese and Spencer (Amanda) Perdue; grandchildren, Zachary Blum, Kristen McCleese, JoyAnna Perdue and Priscilla Perdue; along with nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by siblings, Carolyn Crum and Gilbert Perdue.

The Perdue family will receive friends on Friday, July 31 from 4-7 pm at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus where his funeral will be held Saturday at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Brokensword Cemetery.
