Tameria G. Walker, 56, of Mansfield and formerly of Bucyrus died early Monday, April 2, 2018 at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital from complications of Myotonic Dystrophy.
She was born November 10, 1961 in Mansfield to the late Charles Thomas Carroll, Sr. “Tom” and Carole G. (Bridges) Carroll Roberts who survives. She attended Madison Local Schools until being swept off her feet by the love of her life, Tom Walker of Bucyrus who she met through her mother. They were married November 18, 1978 and made their home in Bucyrus until moving to Mansfield 11 years ago.
When younger and in better health, Tammy liked roller skating and was an exceptional putt-putt golfer, winning several tournaments. While in Bucyrus, she performed with the Bucyrus Little Theatre, in minstrel shows at the school auditorium, and she worshiped at the Nazarene Church. Tammy and Tom were long-time season pass holders for Cedar Point and they enjoyed driving in and around nearby Malabar Farm watching deer. A lot of lively card games were played over the years, usually with her dear brother, and since being confined to home, she read a lot, enjoyed coloring, and watched nostalgic television shows.
In addition to her husband of nearly 40 years and her mother, Tammy is survived by children, Buffie (Micah) Marshall and Michael (Stacy) Walker; four grandchildren, Cody Walker, Kirtlynd Smith, Billy Ball, and Abby Peay; great granddaughter, Laisyn; and stepfather, Dave Roberts.
She was preceded in death by her father; infant children, Matthew, Monica, and David; miscarried twins; and her beloved brother, Tommy Carroll Jr.
Tammy’s life will be celebrated at a memorial service at Wise Funeral Service, 129 W. Warren St. in Bucyrus on Friday, April 6 at 3:30 pm with Pastor Ray LaSalle officiating. She will be laid to rest with her children in Oceola Cemetery on a later date.
Those wishing to give donations in lieu of flowers are encouraged to make them payable to Akron Children’s Hospital and give at the funeral home. Memories and photos can be shared on Tammy’s Tribute Wall.
