Stephen C. Kennedy

Stephen C. Kennedy, 65, of Bucyrus, died January 14, 2022, at his home after years of declining health.



Stephen was born in Bucyrus July 19, 1956 to the late Joseph Glenn Kennedy I and late Joan “Pat” (Heath) Kennedy. He grew up in Chatfield and graduated from Buckeye Central High School in 1974 before joining the Army. He would be stationed in Germany, Korea, and Panama. While in Wisconsin during his service, he worked as a truck driver for six years. After serving for 16 years, Stephen would retire and work as an Army recruiter. He was a member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bucyrus, American Legion Post 181, and VFW Post 1078.



Stephen was proud to have served his country and always had the American flag displayed at his home. He loved his niece and nephews. Stephen enjoyed taking them out to golf and treating them to pizza and ice cream. One of his favorite pastimes was watching old westerns and cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes. Stephen also liked John Deere tractors.



Surviving Stephen are his sisters, Vicki (Garry) Cole and Dennise (Mike) Holtzapfel; brothers, Joe (Connie) Kennedy II and Todd Kennedy; four nephews; one niece; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Kennedy.



The family will be honoring Stephen’s wishes and holding private services. Memorial contributions can be made payable to Gifts for Yanks or the Fisher House Foundation and can be sent to Wise Funeral Service, 129 W. Warren St., Bucyrus, Ohio 44820.
