Ruth I. Light

Ruth I. Light, 87, of Bucyrus and lifelong resident of Sulphur Springs, died peacefully Saturday morning, July 2, 2016 at Riverside Methodist Hospital.



She was born December 26, 1928 in Liberty Twp., Crawford County to the late Milo and Luella (Shealy) Geissman. She graduated from Sulphur Springs High School in 1946 where she played flute, sang in the choir, acted in plays, and was on the newspaper and yearbook staffs. After school, she worked at the Aid for the Aged office. Ruth married high school classmate Herbert B. Light on May 23, 1948. He preceded her in death December 4, 2012. Ruth retired as a Deputy Clerk from the Crawford County Courthouse where she worked for 28 years.



Ruth was a compassionate, kind, and caring soul who knew how to trust and expect the best out of people. She offered timeless advice like, “Slow down and accept life for what it is” and “Don’t wish it all away; if it’s meant to be, it’s meant to be.” She worshiped with the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sulphur Springs and enjoyed quilting, cooking, and baking, exchanging her favorite recipes with friends and coworkers.



Ruth is survived by her granddaughter, Megan Blum; brother-in-law, Fred Klopfer; three nieces and a nephew. In addition to her parents and husband of 64 years, Ruth was preceded in death by her daughter, Kaye Blum and sister, Doris Klopfer.



Ruth’s Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 8 at 10:00 am at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 4707 Ridgeton Road in Sulphur Springs with Pastor Hans Scherner officiating. Her burial in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery will conclude the service.
