Rosaclaire Anthony

Rosaclaire Anthony, 80, of Bucyrus died Saturday, January 16, 2016 at her home after a two year battle with cancer.

She was born January 29, 1935 in Charleston, West Virginia to the late David and Vennie Mae (Copley) Kirby. The Kirbys moved to Athens, West Virginia where Rose graduated from high school and Concord College where her father was the Dean. While at Concord, Rose met Joe Anthony and they were married December 19, 1954. They moved from Fort Benning, Georgia, where Joe served in the Army, to Marion, Ohio where she taught in Marion City Schools.

After an early retirement, the Anthonys moved to Lake Erie and wintered in Florida before settling in Bucyrus. Over the years, Rose was an avid fisherman before taking up golf. Since moving to Bucyrus, she began quilting, meeting with the Quilt Club at the Bucyrus Public Library and donating quilts to children at the Flying J Horse Farm and Nationwide Children’s Hospital TWIGS. She enjoyed a lively game of euchre or board games and loved reading. She was a member of Women of the Moose Chapter 741 and the auxiliaries of AmVets Post 27 and American Legion Post 181.

In addition to her husband of 61 years, Rose is survived by four daughters, Deborah (Jack) Thomas of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Barbara (Terry) Koehler of Bucyrus, Bettie Jo (Richard) Harper of Rittman, and Rosemary (Jeff) Wallace of Dublin; five grandchildren; and a dear friend and neighbor, Jason Schnabel.

Rose will be laid to rest in Chapel Heights Memorial Gardens. Although no public services will be held, you can remember her with a donation to a charity of your choice through Wise Funeral Service, 129 W. Warren St., Bucyrus, Ohio 44820. Memories and photos can be shared on her Tribute Wall.
