Rosa Maria Diaz, 95, of Fairhaven Community in Upper Sandusky died Monday, December 15, 2014 after several weeks of declining health.

She was born April 8, 1919 in El Paso, Texas to the late Julian Morales and Nellie (Cepeda) Rios.  She graduated from Bowie High School and took secretarial training at Fernandez Commercial College. She met Corp. Antero Diaz y Segarra at a USO dance. They were married in 1945 and moved to his native Puerto Rico where Rosa worked as a registrar at Mayagüez Medical Center. After Antero’s death in 1986, Rosa moved to Ohio to be with her son and his family in Ashland and Bucyrus before moving to Fairhaven Community in 2003.

Rosa is survived by her grandchildren, Leah (Ryan) Mitchell, Jordan Wesley Rios, Gladys Brito and Maricarmen Brito; two great granddaughters, Alejandra and Andrea; daughter-in-law, Hilary Rios and son-in-law, Miguel Baez.

In addition to her parents and husband, Rosa was preceded in death by her son, Joseph Rios; daughter, Iris V. Diaz; stepfather, Joseph Rios and sister, Jessica Morales.

All services for Rosa Diaz will be held on Friday, December 19. Rosary service will begin at 9:45 am and family will receive friends from 10-11:40 at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus. Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church at 12 Noon with Fr. Frederick Schill officiating and burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
