Randy Scott

Randy G. Scott, 53, of Bucyrus, died Monday, October 6, 2014 at Bucyrus Community Hospital following a brief battle with cancer.

He was born July 29, 1961 in Bucyrus to Jack G. and Tauwanta (Turner) Scott who both reside in Bucyrus. Randy had a way of picking things up intellectually. He learned the US Presidents at a very early age and taught himself to play guitar which he enjoyed throughout his years at Col. Crawford, graduating Salutatorian in 1979. He was also proud to continue his education at The Ohio State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and made the Dean’s List every quarter until graduating in 1983.

He returned to Bucyrus and in 1985 began working for the US Postal Service. He spent the majority of his career as a mail sorter and retired in 2006.  Randy was a private and quiet individual who yearned for more knowledge. He loved reading, especially books pertaining to history or sports statistics and when Jeopardy was on he would quietly answer the questions while those with him watched in amazement. When not reading, he always enjoyed watching his Buckeyes on television.

Though never married, Randy loved spending time with his family. He visited his parents every Wednesday evening for dinner and was always present for birthdays and holidays as this gave him a chance to spoil his nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sisters, Sherry (Shane) Stuckman of Bucyrus and Jackie (Chad) Bukey of Plain City; his wonderful nieces and nephews, Tracy (Jenna) Dyer and their three children, Chase, Callan and Finn, Nikki Dyer, Shayla Stuckman, Audrey Bukey, Anderson Bukey and Ayden Bukey; his uncle, Jim (Evelyn) Scott and his four legged friend, Dido.

No public services will be held for Randy and memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society through Wise Funeral Service, 129 W. Warren St., Bucyrus, OH 44820. To share a memory or expression of sympathy, please sign the Memorial Guestbook below.
