Naomi Edgington

Naomi Marie Edgington, 87, of Bucyrus, died peacefully Monday, February 23, 2015 at Carlisle Place where she had lived for over two years.

She was born in Nevada on October 1, 1927 to the late Charles H. and Liddie L. (Barth) Bardon. Naomi graduated from Nevada High School and soon afterward on October 3, 1946 married Charles N. Edgington, Jr. who survives.

Naomi was a very sentimental lady whose life revolved around her family. She cared for them as a homemaker and was always supportive of her husband. In more recent years, she found enjoyment babysitting and spending time with her grandchildren. Naomi was also a talented seamstress and had worked at Henry’s Studio for a few years and at Vasil’s until her retirement, but her sewing never stopped. She taught her daughter to sew, made many outfits and she even used her trusty Montgomery Ward sewing machine to repair camping equipment when necessary.

She was raised in the Lutheran faith, previously taught Sunday School and was a member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church. Naomi was also a member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the American Legion, both in Nevada and Bucyrus, where she was active with Girls State Program.

She and her family loved staying at various area campgrounds, Mohican being their favorite and she also cherished quiet time to knit and crochet.

In addition to Charles Junior, her husband of 68 years, Naomi is survived by two children, Roger (Linda) Edgington of Wooster and Joyce (Mark) Rittenour of Bucyrus; five grandchildren, Judi (Jon) Bradham, Jill (Scott) Buklad, Jodi (Sean) Miguel, Barry Rittenour and fiancée, Kelly Augenstein and Amanda (Paul) Pahl; nine great grandchildren; one sister, Marjorie (Charles) Auck of Bucyrus along with numerous nieces, nephews, and her loving Carlisle Place family.

She was preceded in death by grandson, Craig Rittenour; great grandson, Brady Rittenour and seven siblings, Maybelle Bardon, Floidie Bowers, Harold Bardon, Pauline Holwager, Evelyn Wolbert, Donald Bardon and Barb Reidlinger.

Funeral services will held at 12 Noon on Saturday, February 28 at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus with Gene Luidhardt, S.A.M. officiating. She will be laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery on a later date. Friends may call on Saturday from 10:00 am until the service begins.
