Minnie Barker

Minnie Barker, 77, died Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at Bucyrus Community Hospital following a lengthy illness.



She was born March 4, 1938 in Carter County Kentucky to the late Robert and Ann (Stevens) Middleton. She married Vernon E. Barker on June 27, 1959 and they settled in Bucyrus where she devoted her life to loving her family as a homemaker. Vernon preceded her in death October 10, 2006.



Minnie lived to provide for others and family values were a must. She will be remembered as an excellent cook and she carried on a longtime tradition of providing Sunday dinners for anyone able to join.



Minnie was a member of North Broadway United Baptist Church in Shelby. She kept busy working in her garden, much of which she canned for later enjoyment. Minnie also loved quilting various gifts for family and tending to her flowers.



She is survived by four children, Dan Barker, Donna (Doug) Rader, Dale (Kathy) Barker all of Bucyrus and David (Kimberly) Barker of New Washington; fourteen grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; three siblings, Gene (Esther) Middleton, Cledith (Helen) Middleton and Monnie (Wayne) Mabry all of Olive Hill, Kentucky.



In addition to her husband 47 years, Minnie is preceded in death by six siblings, Arnold and Lloyd Middleton, Ella Adkins, Ola Reynolds, Nola Clark and Sellar Offil.



Her family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, January 24 at Wise Funeral Service, where her funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday with Elder James Owens officiating. Burial will follow in Crawford County Memory Gardens.



Memorial contributions may be given to the American Lung Association through the funeral home.
