Marguerite Marie Armstrong, 87, of Bucyrus, died Monday, February 2, 2015 at Carlisle Place where she resided since 2012.

She was born January 17, 1928 in Wyandot County to the late Charles and Juanita (Burwell) Frey and was a 1945 graduate of Bucyrus High School. In November of that year, she married her high school sweetheart, Harold T. Flock who preceded her in death 11 years later following a battle with leukemia. Marguerite then married Melvin J. Armstrong and they shared 52 years together until his death in 2012.

She cared for her family as a homemaker and also worked at Struble Drug Store, Timken and finally at G.E. where she worked for 15 years. Marguerite was a longtime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where she belonged to the Friendship Sunday School Class, formerly served on the church council and enjoyed singing in the choir until her health no longer allowed. She was a member and Past Worthy Matron of Bucyrus Order of Eastern Star #3.

Marguerite was very giving of herself, volunteering her time in the gift shop and reception desk at Bucyrus Community Hospital as well the Bucyrus Salvation Army and Cotta Missionary Society. Marguerite enjoyed family gatherings and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved sewing, knitting and crocheting and showered her family and friends with many creations. She had quite the glass bird collection, which her cat “Susie” left alone while they kept each other company and in the past Marguerite spent many hours working in her flower garden.

She is survived by one son, Robert (Susan) Flock of Bucyrus; three grandchildren, Cynthia (John) Cornell of Mansfield, Timothy (Susan) Flock of Marion and Christine (Michael) Harrison of Colorado Springs; seven great grandchildren, Sarah and Grace Cornell, Michelle and Nicole Flock and Nicholas, Isabel and Ella Harrison. Also surviving are two stepchildren, Michael (Patricia) Armstrong of Eagar, Arizona and Paula (Dale) McGuire of Melbourne, Florida; two sisters, Rosemary (James) Kent and Carol Schifer both of Bucyrus; numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews; a brother-in-law, Larry Armstrong of Leesville and sister-in-law, Esther Armstrong of Galion.

Marguerite is preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Robert G. Flock and Charles Armstrong; sister-in-law, Sandy Armstrong and one nephew.

An Eastern Star service will be held Wednesday, February 4 at 4:45 p.m. immediately followed by calling hours from 5-7 p.m. at Wise Funeral Service. Friends may also call at the funeral home one hour prior to her funeral which will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Michael H. Tamorria officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to HomeCare Matters Hospice or a charity of the donor’s choice through the funeral home.
