Joyce LaVerne Locker, 74, of Bucyrus died peacefully Thursday, December 21, 2017 at her home under the care of her family and hospice.



She was born October 24, 1943 in Tennessee to the late Milton and Lena Mae (Craven) Amons. Her family made their way to Ohio where Joyce attended school in Attica. She married Ray Locker on June 12, 1962, sharing 54 years of marriage until his death August 16, 2016.



Joyce was an independent woman who often kept to herself and played to her own tune. She was a competitor who enjoyed bowling in her younger years and played cards and lots of BINGO. She also liked playing video games and began playing them even more when her health began to fail. She was a devoted wife and mother whose holiday gatherings will be missed along with her homemade Marzetti, meatloaf and mashed potatoes.



Joyce is survived by three children, Vickey (Mark) Stump, Allen Ray Locker, Jr., and Anthony (Sara) Locker; daughter-in-law, Terrie Locker; 12 grandchildren, Brittany, Joseph, Matthew, Zachary, Morgan, Logan, Ronni, and Bryce Locker, Jennifer (James) Berry, Allison Stump, Emily Stump, and Braiden Cross; three great grandchildren, Bryant, Hudson and Kade Berry; brother, Billy Amons; sister, Rita (John) Webb; stepbrother, Phillip Amons; stepsister, Debbie Amons; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.



In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Joseph Locker; brother, Larry Amons; and sister-in-law, Brenda Amons.



Her family encourages monetary gifts to be given to Homecare Matters Hospice through Wise Funeral Service, 129 W. Warren St., Bucyrus, who assisted with her cremation.
