Joyce H. Wenzel

Joyce H. Wenzel, 88, of Galion and formerly of Bucyrus, passed peacefully on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at Magnolia Terrace.



She was born January 24, 1932 in Charlotte, NC to the late R.W. and Bessie E. (Stephens) Hailey. Joyce grew up in Bucyrus and was a 1949 graduate of Bucyrus High School. In January of 1953, she married Hayward “Dick” J. Wenzel and he preceded her in death in January of 2004.



Joyce handled secretarial duties at various places and also cared for her family as a homemaker. She formerly attended church at the First Presbyterian Church and most recently attended Bucyrus Nazarene Church until her health no longer allowed. She was always willing to help, Dick with his Standardbred horses and many summer months were spent traveling to different county fairs to watch him race. Her favorite past time was bowling. She bowled in various leagues and always looked forward to the annual WIBC bowling tournament held throughout the country. She enjoyed reading and did a lot of sewing, crocheting, and knitting throughout her life.



Joyce is survived by children, Fritz (Sandra) Wenzel and Mary Ann (Dave) Tinch; seven grandchildren, Jennie (Ben) Whitman, Courtney Tinch, Kyle (Amber) Tinch, Tyler Tinch, Bart (Katy) Scarbro, Justin (Ashley) Scarbro and Stacey Jones; 11 great grandchildren and a sister, Gail Dennis. She was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.



Though no public services will be held, donations can be made payable to either, Avita Hospice or Magnolia Terrace. These gifts will be accepted through Wise Funeral Service, who assisted with her cremation arrangements. Expressions of sympathy are encouraged to be shared on her tribute page.
