Joe Anthony

Joe Anthony, 83, passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at his home unexpectedly.

He was born on March 11, 1935 in Elkin, NC to the late Fonzie and Collie (Burchette) Anthony. He was married on December 19, 1954 to the love of his life, Rosaclaire Kirby for 62 years until her death in 2016.

Joe enlisted in the US Army and proudly served for over 2 years. During their marriage they lived in Marion, Ohio where he worked for 25 years as a steelworker at Armco Steel. He also worked 2 years as a truant officer for Marion city schools. After their retirements, they moved to Lake Erie before settling down in Bucyrus for over 26 years. Joe and his beloved wife wintered in Florida and enjoyed the summer and fall in Bucyrus for many years.

Joe was always trying to stay active and played on many golf and horseshoe leagues for many years. Joe was very conscious of his health by spending many mornings at the Bucyrus YMCA.

He believed in making a difference by donating needed items to the local homeless shelter and individuals in need. He also helped serving lunches during the summer to area youth. For the past 3 years he volunteered to water the hanging baskets in downtown Bucyrus. He was a member and enjoyed socializing at the Moose Lodge 669, American Legion Post 1181 and AMVETS 27.

He is survived by four daughters, Deb (Jack) Thomas of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Barb (Terry) Koehler of Bucyrus, Bettie (Richard) Harper of Rittman and Rosemary (Jeff) Wallace of Dublin; five grandchildren, one brother and a dear friend, Jason Schnabel.

Although no public services will be held, you can remember him with a donation to a local charity of your choice through Wise Funeral Service.
