Jerry A. Teynor

Jerry A. Teynor, 73, of Bucyrus, died Thursday, September 4, 2014 at his residence following a lengthy battle with cancer.

He was born February 14, 1941 in Bucyrus to the late John and Ada Mae (Matthews) Teynor. Jerry graduated from Bucyrus High School and was proud to have served in the US Army during Vietnam as a MP. He continued with his passion for protecting others by completing police academy and then served for 20 plus years as a New Washington Police Officer.

Jerry loved drinking coffee, especially when visiting his sweetheart, Stella (Dudziak) in Cleveland as she made the best cup of coffee. He decided if they got married he wouldn’t have to drive so far to visit her, so on July 16, 1977 they married and have enjoyed several cups of coffee, rides on the motorcycle and many John Kennedy Orchestra concerts over the past 37 years.

Jerry dabbled in gold prospecting and had the privilege of prospecting in Alaska in 2005 which proved to be fun and a little profitable. He was also an incredible trap shooter and in 1977, with the assistance of five loaders and two gun handlers, was listed in the Guinness Book of World Records for shooting at 2,252 clay targets and striking 1,735 all within one hour.

Jerry was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church; American Legion Post 181, serving as president of the Ohio American Legion Trap Shooters for several years; Amateur Trapshooting Association; Gold Prospectors Association; NRA; VFW Post 1078 and a former member of the Conservation League.

In addition to his wife Stella, Jerry is survived by one daughter, Janet Tucker and granddaughter, Jorden Tucker of Huntersville, N.C.

Friends may call from 1-3 p.m. Monday at Wise Funeral Service before his funeral begins at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Jack Richards officiating. Flag presentation honors will conclude the services.

Memorial contributions may be given to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Gifts for Yanks, Wounded Warrior Project, MedCentral Hospice or the Bucyrus Salvation Army through the funeral home. Memories can be shared in the Memorial Guestbook below.
