Geraldine L. Smith

Geraldine Louise Smith, 77, of Antrim Twp. died Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at her home under hospice care.



She was born in Bucyrus on January 16, 1942 to the late John W. and Mary L. (Kocher) Truka. After graduating from Bucyrus High School in 1960, she worked in a factory for a short time before meeting Edwin E. Smith of Wyandot. They were married in 1962 and Gerry worked as a homemaker, raising three sons and helping Edwin with his farming.



Gerry will be remembered best as a caregiver. She was a faithful member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, enjoyed caring for and shopping with her mother, and seeing that everyone was well fed.



She is survived by Edwin Smith, her husband of 57 years; sons, Greg (Bea) Smith, Randy Smith, and Mike (Ellen) Smith; grandchildren, Hannah (Ryan) Bennett, Allie Smith, Jacob Smith, and Noah Smith; and sister-in-law, Barb Truka. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Tim Truka.



A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, July 6 at 11:00 am at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Fr. Paul Fahrbach officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
