Evelyn E. Miller, 84, of Bucyrus, died Friday, October 13, 2017 at Orchard Park.



She was born October 19, 1932 in rural Bucyrus the second oldest of 11 children to the late Perry W. and Florence C. (Green) Miller. She was a 1950 graduate of Holmes Liberty High School and finished her education at Transylvania Bible School aspiring to do mission work in Cuba. While in Bible college, she learned the trade of, setting lead type and since she couldn’t travel to Cuba because of their restrictions, this allowed her the opportunity of working in newsprint. She took a position at the New Washington Herald for a brief time before beginning what would become a 34-year career at the Bucyrus Telegraph Forum. Evelyn spent most of her years’ operating the typesetter in the composing room and was also responsible for much of the proofreading until retiring in 1995.



Evelyn had been actively involved for many years at the Nevada Pilgrim Holiness Church where she taught Sunday School class to younger married people. She enjoyed reading and loved spending time with family, especially her sister, Sharon whom she traveled to Amish Country, as well as shopped and explored various restaurants. She was a quiet and independent lady who will be remembered for her daily walks to work and the store as she never drove a car.



Evelyn is survived by nine siblings, Dolores Brown, Wilma (Marvin) Swart, Marlene (Clair) Saltzman, Gladys (Kenneth) Wolf, Norma “Jane” Miller, Dale (Donna) Miller, Marvin Miller, Lyle (Karen) Miller and Darle (Diana) Miller as well as many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are special friends and caregivers, Nova and Tim Ferguson.



She is preceded in death by her sister, Sharon Young, a brother-in-law, Donald Brown and a sister-in-law, Betty Miller.



Friends may call from 10 – 11:55 a.m. Tuesday, October 17 at Wise Funeral Service, where her funeral will begin that day at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Steven Malone officiating. Burial will follow in Brokensword Cemetery.



Donations can be made payable to Nevada Pilgrim Holiness Church and will be accepted at the funeral home.
