Donald P. Bogan

Donald Paul Bogan, 95, of Bucyrus died Monday, December 23, 2019 at Bucyrus Community Hospital after two years of declining health.

He was born to the late Chester H. and Anona F. (Pfahler) Bogan on August 30, 1924 in North Robinson. After graduating from high school, Don joined the US Army, serving in the European Theatre of WW2. He returned to Crawford County where he met the former Audrey Ann Campbell whom he married April 23, 1949. She preceded him in death on March 28, 2010.

Don will be remembered as a mild-mannered, gentle, frugal, and all-around “good guy” who took loving care of his wife and children. He and Audrey enjoyed years of bowling, golf, boating, and traveling. They wintered in Clearwater, Florida for 18 years and enjoyed summers at Lake Erie. He was Mr. Fix-It to many family and friends over the years and worked as a shift supervisor for The Timken Co. before his retirement. He was a member of Bucyrus UMC, former member of American Legion Post 181 and Moose Lodge 669, and he looked forward to cheering on The Ohio State Buckeyes.

Don is survived by three daughters and their families, Diane (Denny) Gould of Tampa, Florida and their son, Dustin; Karen (Dave) Wright of Presque Isle, Michigan and their children, Courtney (Aaron) Grant, Kelsey (Michael) Chin, and Jordan (Danielle) Wright and grandchildren, Karly, Parker, Spencer, Mallory, and Lyla; and Connie (Gary) Turner of Bucyrus and their daughter, Cheyenne. He is also survived by sister, Irene Coon and brother, Ken (Carol) Bogan. In addition to his wife and parents, Don was preceded in death by great granddaughter, Kennedy Nicole Grant; brothers, Glenn and Raymond Bogan; and brother-in-law, Maynard Coon.

Don will be laid to rest next to Audrey privately in Oakwood Cemetery. A spring gathering to celebrate his life will be announced at a later date by the Bogan family.

Those wishing to make a memorial donation are asked to make them payable to Bucyrus UMC or a charity of the donor’s choice and they will be collected at Wise Funeral Service, 129 W. Warren St., Bucyrus. Memories and photos can be shared on Don’s Tribute Wall.
