Dennis A. Beebe, 76, of Bucyrus died peacefully early Sunday morning, October, 11 2015 at his home. He had battled the effects of ALS for a number of years.



He was born April 27, 1939 in Bucyrus to the late Wallace G. and Henrietta (Biggs) Beebe. He graduated from Bucyrus High School in 1957 and attended Miami University and Tiffin Business School. Denny worked at JJ Newberry in Bucyrus and Bowling Green as stock boy and assistant manager before joining the Air Force and being stationed in Lincoln, Nebraska. He married the former Virginia Shaffstall on May 13, 1961 and she survives in Bucyrus.



Upon completion of his service, Denny worked at Galion Iron Works in both the factory and office before he went to The Timken Co. where he was a stationary engineer in the Boiler House for over 36 years. After retiring, he went to work for the Council on Aging in meal delivery.



Denny enjoyed swimming, receiving his Red Cross certification in Life Saving and was a Water Safety Instructor, teaching publicly and privately for over 30 years. He was also musically inclined, playing the tuba, piano and organ. He belonged to various church choirs, served as deacon and Sunday School teacher and was presently a member of Bucyrus Nazarene Church. He was a Boy Scout and assisted in scout leadership and he had a passion for flying. He flew radio control airplanes and had his private pilot’s license. He built three experimental aircraft: a KR1, Taylor Titch and BD5 and raced internationally, receiving several awards. He also built an Austin Healey replica.



Other hobbies were collecting, spoiling his dog, snow skiing, sailing, visiting his summer home in Huron and traveling. He and Ginny traveled to England, Scotland, Israel, Greece Fiji, France, Nassau, most of the United States and Hawaii. They also went on two mission trips with their granddaughter to Honduras.



Dennis is survived his bride of 54 years, Virginia Beebe; two sons, Kirk A. Beebe of Lenoir City, Tenn. and Brad A. (Selena) Beebe of Crestline; three grandchildren, Brandon Beebe, Brittney (JJ) Cournoyer Beebe and Trent Beebe; one great grandson, Liam Cournoyer; sister-in-law, Pat Beebe and many nieces and nephews.



In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Donald Beebe, Wallace Eugene (Phoebe) Beebe and Harold (Louise) Beebe.



The Beebe family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on Thursday, October 15 at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus where his funeral will be held on Friday at 10:30 am with Pastors Ray LaSalle and Merle Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery where military rites will be given by the US Air Force and American Legion Post 181 Honor Guards.



Memorial donations may be given to the Humane Society Serving Crawford County or the Crawford County Veterans Monument Fund through the funeral home and memories can be shared below.
