Charles is survived by his five children, Karen S. Crall Rarick (Craig), Kelley A. Crall Shealy (Tad), Kathleen J. Crall Kennedy (Michael), Steven R. Crall (Shelly) and Julie M. Crall Miller (Craig). He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; Amber L. Rarick Wertman (Tim), Katie J. Crall Stone (Adam), Ryan C. Shealy, Stephanie M. Rarick Kissinger (Andy), Sabrina K. Rarick, Allison M. Charles graduated from Holmes Liberty in 1952. Following graduation, he worked at Swan, and then went to Timken.  He left Timken in 1956 to join the U.S. Army, where he served in the active military for two years, followed by the reserves for two additional years.  After his time in active duty, he returned to Timken where he worked for 32 years.  After his retirement, he was elected as a Crawford County Commissioner, where he served for ten years.  In his later years he was employed by Gebhardt Auctions. He found great enjoyment every time he had the opportunity to spend time with the auction crew.  Charles served on the Wynford Board of Education for many years, and was also a member of the Crawford County School Board. He had a passion for raising and showing Montadale Sheep, and found much success in this area, not only at the local level but also the national level.  Charles also greatly loved Wynford sports, and could be found at many football, basketball, volleyball and baseball games.

He was above all else a devoted, loving and supportive family man.  He loved to spend time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and enjoyed sharing in all of their activities.  He had a way about him that made everyone around him feel loved and valued – he prided himself on treating others with respect.
