Arlene M. Neumann

Arlene Marie Neumann, 80, of Bucyrus, died peacefully at her home on Tuesday, May 19, 2020 in the presence of many who loved her.

She was born December 4, 1939 in rural Bucyrus to the late Birt and Nellie (Beamer) Clark and was a 1957 graduate of Mt. Zion High School.

Arlene spent her early adulthood as a homemaker caring for her four children and will also be remembered for time spent working the drive-thru window at Clancy’s. She attended night school at Bucyrus High School, brushing up on her business skills. This prepared her for a job at Ohio Crane where she worked as a purchasing agent until her retirement in 1987.

On May 17, 1980, she married Ronald E. Neumann and after she retired, they moved to Deltona, Florida to enjoy warmer weather. They resided there for about 10 years before moving to Lake Park, Georgia where they lived until Ron’s passing in 2015. She then returned home to Bucyrus, allowing her to be closer with family.

Her faith in Christ guided her life. Arlene and Ron attended the First United Methodist Church in Bucyrus and continued actively serving at Sanford UMC and Lake Park UMC while residing in Florida and Georgia. She sang in church choirs, was active with missions and spread God’s word whenever she got the chance. Arlene was a longtime member and director of the Sweet Adelines; was proud to have been named Bucyrus Women’s Professional of the Year and volunteered as a member of the Bratwurst Festival Queen’s Committee.

She and Ron enjoyed their travels. They shared many trips our west with their camper and also enjoyed traveling to her favorite location, Hawaii. She loved time spent with family and collecting butterflies and angels. Her love of angels shined through as she even named her four-legged companion Angel, and that dog became more spoiled than any other family member.

Arlene is survived by four daughters, Pamela Haines, Debra (John) Wallingford, Chris (Kenneth) Burris and Penny (Thomas) Grandy; stepchildren, Alan Neumann and Sonya (James) Gibson; grandchildren, Josh (Kerrie) Haines, Cory Haines, Selina Slagle, Kimberly (Nate) Spears, Brittany Miller, Kelly (Richie) Allen, Bryan (Julie) Burris, Michelle Burris, Jasmine Burris, Joslyn Burris, Jade Grandy, Mitchell Grandy, Benjamin (Krista) Neumann, Krystle (Alain) Jordan-Nguyen, Brecken (Selina) Neumann, Nikolette (Nathaniel) Churchwell, Nathan Croyle, Eric (Cassie) Croyle, Curtis Croyle and Bryan (Trisha) Croyle; many great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Bursby, Wilma Jean Sharrock, Maxine Shifley and Joyce Dickey; one sister-in-law, Rose Clark as well as other extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Clark and a daughter-in-law, Janine Neumann.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, May 26 at The Gathering Place, 1300 Mount Vernon Ave., Marion, Ohio 43302.

Donations can be made payable to either Heartland Hospice or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. These gifts will be accepted through Wise Funeral Service who handled her cremation arrangements.
