Annabelle L. Edgington

Annabelle Louise Edgington, 86, died Saturday, April 29, 2017 at Bucyrus Community Hospital.

She was born January 25, 1931 in Bucyrus to the late Carl and Cora (Wilson) Briggs. Annabelle attended Mt. Zion School and on September 4, 1948 married Wilbur W. “Bill” Edgington. He died shortly thereafter on August 5, 1950 as result of an automobile accident and she was left to raise their three children. She loved and cared for them as a mother should and also worked many years in the Dietary Dept. at Bucyrus Community Hospital. In more recent years, she ran the register in the cafeteria. Annabelle was considered a fixture of the hospital, giving more than half a century of employment and retiring this past November only due to declining health.

Annabelle certainly placed her family first and loved every minute spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Some years ago, she was given a camera as a present and this led to many scrapbooking creations over the years, detailing special moments spent with her family.

She was often on the go and looked forward to trips with or to spend time with family. Annabelle was a member of Good Hope Lutheran Church. She enjoyed relaxing to HGTV and often could be found with a hot cup of Lipton tea and a Keebler Club cracker with peanut butter as a snack.

She is survived by two children, Jim Edgington and Linda (Melvin) Barth both of Bucyrus; six grandchildren, Cynthia (Brian) Shupp, Laura (Rob) Koons, Steve (Victoria) Edgington, Stacie (Mark) Schimpf, Jammie (Tracy) Cook and Bart (Melissa) Christman; 11 great grandchildren and one sister, Ruth (Don) Matthews of Bucyrus.

Annabelle was preceded in death by her daughter, Christine Louise Christman; a daughter-in-law, Mary Edgington; five brothers and three sisters.

Her family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 2 at Wise Funeral Service. A graveside funeral will take place at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Mt. Zion Cemetery with Gene Luidhardt, SAM officiating. Friends and family are asked to meet at the cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be given through the funeral home and are asked to be made payable to Good Hope Lutheran Church Organ Fund, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to the American Cancer Society.
